The partnership agreement between the Region of Perm and the State of Lower Saxony has existed for more than 25 years. During this time many seminars, delegation visits and bilateral meetings have taken place at DMAN.
From 7 to 11 April 2019 a delegation from Perm came once again to Celle, this time with representatives of the Perm State Medical University under the direction of Rector Prof. Dr. Irina P. Korjukina. The Perm State Humanitarian-Pedagogical University was also represented.
The seminar dealt with the "Export of educational services: Particularities in the organization of training for foreign students in medical universities". The intensive information programme covered a broad spectrum of individual aspects – from international university marketing to giving practical support to foreign students.
The focus of the visit was the exchange of experiences with colleagues of the Hannover Medical School (MHH). President Prof. Dr. Michael P. Manns and Prof. Dr. Axel Haverich, Medical Director of Cardiothoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery, received the participants who were given a lot of information about medical education at MHH and the development of education quality. They discussed the integration of foreign students into the medical studies and met a student representative who presented the topic from the perspective of foreign students.
Heino Wiese, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Hanover, welcomed the delegation and referred to the long-standing friendly relations between Lower Saxony and the Perm region.
With their hosts at the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, the participants discussed possible focal points for future cooperation. They identified telemedicine for improved medical care in rural areas as a current focus of research and practical testing in both Lower Saxony and Perm.
A visit to the Studierendenwerk Hamburg (a state-run organization for student affairs) rounded off the programme with a lively exchange of experiences on dealing with intercultural, social and practical problems of the students.
Prof. Korjukina was extremely satisfied with the programme that DMAN had prepared: "The programme was very well thought out: the scientific topics, the practical experience of the German colleagues and students, and the insights into German culture, architecture and traditions. We appreciated the constant attention, professional commitment and friendly attitude of the colleagues at DMAN. All members of our delegation and participants of the event hope for further cooperation".
