"Sustainable Construction Practices" (SCP), Nepal

Vertical Shaft Brick Kiln factory

The overall objectives of this project are to contribute to the mitigation of global warming and environmental degradation by reducing greenhouse gases and black carbon emission, to foster sustainable production, and to contribute to economic prosperity as well as to poverty reduction in Nepal.

The specific project goals relate to the promotion of sustainable production and sustainable consumption patterns in the construction industry, raised awareness of private sector stakeholders for green building materials and solutions, and consumer information on the benefits of clean energy and energy-saving building material.

In this project, DMAN cooperates with the Swiss company Skat and with FNCSI in Nepal. Contracting authority is the SWITCH-Asia Programme “Promoting Sustainable Consumption and Production” of the European Commission.

The regional environment programme SWITCH-Asia aims to promote the adoption of sustainable consumption and production among small and medium-sized enterprises and consumer groups in Asia.

The SCP project is funded up to 90% out of the grant facility of the Switch Asia programme pledged by the European Union.

For more information, please read the SCP leaflet and the project summary.

We also invite you to have a look at the project milestones so far.

By the way: The SCP project protects the environment - not just by helping to reduce CO2 in the construction sector, but also by producing its own electrical power from renewable energy sources. Click here to learn more.
